Sound Construction OBX is a fully licensed and insured general contractor serving the Outer Banks area. We have over 40 years of experience in nearly every aspect of construction. Originally founded as Hatteras Island Sound Construction, Inc. , we are more commonly known throughout the Outer Banks as Sound Construction. We are a team of knowledgeable, dedicated associates committed to building beautiful and “sound” homes that are recognized throughout the Outer Banks as being “hurricane tough.”

Sound Construction OBX is a full-service company, offering residential and commercial construction as well as remodeling services. We don’t just give you four walls and a roof; makes dreams a reality are what we do.

Meet the Team

Kyle O'Neal

Kyle O’Neal is our founder and president. He established Hatteras Island Sound Construction in 1979 and has been building homes on the Outer Banks ever since – over 40 years of experience. In that time, he has worked on everything from remodels and small beach homes to multi-million-dollar custom homes. He has witnessed firsthand the worst weather that Hatteras Island has been through. Because of this, he is dedicated to building houses that can withstand these storms.

Warren O'Neal

Warren O’Neal is our vice president and one of our licensed general contractors for Hatteras Island Sound Construction. After college, he worked as a project engineer for James G Davis Construction Corporation, which specializes in high-end residential and commercial projects in the Washington D.C. area. He is highly educated in his field, and has a great working relationship with clients and the team. Warren will do whatever it takes to build the house of your dreams.

Annette O'Neal

After serving Dare County Schools as a teacher and administrator for over 30 years, Annette O’Neal has joined the Sound Construction OBX team in a full-time capacity. She is part owner of
the company and performs duties as secretary along with office management and project management duties. Being a true native of Hatteras Island -born in Buxton and raised in Avon- she is aware of what it takes to make a lasting home.
